Biographical Info
I took 9 years of private lessons including 6 years of lessons with the Guitar Instructor at the University of NE at Omaha, Hadley Heavin. My training is in Classical Guitar, though I teach anyone who wants to learn Acoustic Guitar. I was influenced by many Classical Guitarists through recordings and, when possible, attending concerts. These included: Pepe Romero, Christopher Parkening, John Williams and Sharon Isbin. To me, the sound of the Classical Guitar, when played well, is the most beautiful sound one can hear. I start at the beginning. Each student learns the notes on the first three frets and where each note is on the musical staff. I allow each student to set the pace of their learning. I did not start studying Classical Guitar until I was 36 years old. Toward the end of my studies I did a number of performances at weddings, club meetings, church services and recitals. My students and I give a recital each February to share our music with family and friends. I listen to my students. If they are having problems or concerns, or if they have accomplished something they have been working on, I will take time to listen and help them find solutions, or encourage triumphs.
