Biographical Info
My first teacher was Laura Weber, who had a PBS TV show called Folk Guitar. Later, I had private lessons with several teachers including Emily Remler and Mick Goodrick. I learned theory from piano lessons as a young child, and went on to become a theory geek studying and then teaching at Berklee College of Music. My favorite jazz players are Wes Montgomery, Joe Pass, Emily Remler. I also love and learned from listening to acoustic players like Kenny Rankin, Janis Ian, Bruce Cockburn, and Bossa Nova players like Joao Gilberto. I have an electric side, as well, and love fusion players and anyone who ever played on a Steely Dan recording. I want to show students possibilities and options. I’ll give you tools to bring the music you hear in your mind’s ear to life. I have released 5 CDs containing many of my compositions and arrangements. I am the author of two guitar instruction books: Introduction to Jazz Guitar and Triads for the Improvising Guitarist, both published by Berklee Press/Hal Leonard. I have music available for licensing for media content with MPath Library. I graduated Summa Cum Laude from Berklee College of Music in 2022 with a BA in Interdisciplinary Music, focusing on Media Composing. I am the Director of Guitar Sessions, Berklee’s week-long summer guitar program. I am an advocate for adults wanting to continue their education, or begin the pursuit of their passion for music in general, and guitar in particular. I am patient with students and realize the importance of working with you at your pace and from your level of experience and skill.
